Couple charged after ‘string’ of break and enters in Hamilton

A couple is facing charges after police say they were involved in a “string of break and enter incidents”.
A couple is facing charges after police say they were involved in a “string of break and enter incidents”.
Police say they were assisted by “a homeowner” on June 24 after the owner of a residence in the area of Queenston and Pottruff Rd N returned home in time to observe a male leave the owner’s residence.
The homeowner followed the male suspect to a local motel and contacted Hamilton Police.
Police said the suspect left the motel prior to their arrival and “attended a jewelry buyer store”. That’s where he was met by police, who arrested the man. The man was allegedly attempting to sell the stolen merchandise.

“He was also found to be in possession of a large amount of American currency, jewelry, and identification not belonging to him,” said Hamilton Police.
Police then raided the suspect’s hotel room on June 25 where they reportedly located “additional stolen property”, which police say included “electronic devices belonging to the Waterloo Regional School Board and other items that proved to be the fruit of another break and enter in the City of Hamilton”.
A 34-year-old Cambridge woman who was present in the hotel room was arrested and taken into police custody.

Both arrested parties appeared in court on June 25.
Police said the investigation remains open as detectives “continue to identify stolen property and return them to their rightful owners”.
