Construction to close portion of busy Hamilton mountain road for next few weeks

Over the next few weeks, motorists can expect some significant traffic delays along a stretch of a busy Hamilton mountain road as a big construction project gets underway.
Lane closures and lane restrictions along Rymal Road E between Nebo Road and Dartnall Road will go into effect Monday (Apri 12) for approximately two weeks as crews work to install a large diameter concrete storm sewer.
A City of Hamilton press release issued Friday (April 9) said the timeline for the project is dependent on the weather in the coming weeks.
The scope of work includes removals of the roadway surface, large trench excavations, installation of concrete storm sewer across Rymal, supporting of several existing utilities, mechanical bedrock breaking, backfilling of the trench and general restorations.
The work is being carried out by DESO Construction Limited, the release said.
Motorists are being told to expect traffic delays in the area while the project is being carried out.
