For the sixth time, the City of Hamilton has been recognized as a 2021 Top Regional Employer in the Hamilton-Niagara Region.

The City was selected for a number of reasons including, retirement planning, a defined benefit pension plan for employees, pregnancy and parental leave top-up, flexible work arrangements for employees, and the availability of wellness activities to encourage employees to make health and wellness a priority.

“It’s an honour to be recognized as a Top Regional Employer in the Hamilton-Niagara Region for the sixth year running,” said Janette Smith, City Manager, City of Hamilton.

Now in its 14th year, Hamilton-Niagara’s Top Employers is a special designation that recognizes employers in greater Hamilton and the Niagara region that lead their industries in offering “exceptional places to work.”

“This year, more than ever, the City is proud to acknowledge and recognize our dedicated, committed employees who have gone above and beyond to continue providing public sector service, while undertaking a sustained emergency and public health response, and supporting our most vulnerable residents during the COVID-19 pandemic,” added Smith.

“This, combined with our commitment to building a vibrant, inclusive city, makes the City of Hamilton a great place to grow one’s career.”

Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offer “the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.”

The City has applied to the competition six times and has been successful each time.
