The City of Hamilton has launched a new interactive tool to keep residents informed and engaged in what’s happening in the community from the comfort of home.

The City of Hamilton has launched a new interactive tool to keep residents informed and engaged in what’s happening in the community from the comfort of home.

“Engage Hamilton will be used to gather online feedback on City of Hamilton projects, policies and initiatives,” a press release sent Tuesday (June 16) explained.

“Engage Hamilton will ensure community members can continue to learn about and provide input on City projects in the absence of in-person engagement activities.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us all to rethink how we engage with one another and Hamilton City Hall isn’t immune.

Gone from the virtual council meetings held during the pandemic were public delegations as many public engagements were cancelled.

“This exciting announcement comes at an important time given that in-person engagement activities are currently on hold,” said Mayor Fred Eisenberger in the release.

Projects currently open for community feedback include Hamilton Responds to COVID, the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre (HARRC), Hate Mitigation, Trillium Awards 2020 and Why Engage.

Users will be required to sign up for the platform and create a profile though it can be used to provide feedback anonymously — you will only be identifiable by the screen name you choose.

The city says that all input and ideas contributed through the platform will be compiled and ‘sent to the relevant project manager to inform the recommendation and/or decision making.’

When new initiatives or projects come up that require feedback, users of the platform will be contacted and asked to weigh in.

“Engage Hamilton will ensure people can continue to learn about important City initiatives,” Eisenberger said.

“I encourage all Hamiltonians to visit and explore the platform and share their feedback.”

At the moment, the city is specifically looking for feedback on their response to COVID-19.

Visit the Engage Hamilton website to see what’s being discussed and to sign up.
