A Christmas stocking stuffer has turned into a big payday for one Hamilton couple.

According to OLG, Hamilton’s Derek and Nicole Burrows matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order to win $100,000 on a late-December Lotto 6/49 draw.

“This ticket was actually a stocking stuffer for Nicole,” said Derek in the OLG press release.

While Derek was out and about one day, he decided to check their lottery tickets.

“I called Nicole and told her to get ready because we won a lot of money,” he recalled. “She didn’t believe me until I came home and was shaking.”

Shortly thereafter, the Burrows shared their exciting news with their friends and family.

“They couldn’t believe it,” they said.

When they realized they were winners they dropped off gifts to loved ones to spread some joy.

“We’re going to put some money away for our future as well,” they said.

The winning ticket was purchased at Pioneer Snack Express on Fennell Avenue.
