Niagara police have laid charged against 51-year-old Patricia Zammit of Hamilton after she was caught on video appearing to assault a woman of Asian descent after hurling racist slurs at her.

Niagara police have laid charged against 51-year-old Patricia Zammit of Hamilton after she was caught on video appearing to assault a woman of Asian descent after hurling racist slurs at her.

The incident occurred in a mall parking lot on Niagara on the Lake on Boxing Day and appears to be over a parking spot and whether the victim signalled.

“The incident was reported to 2 District (Niagara Falls/Niagara on the Lake) uniform officers on December 26, 2019,” said Niagara Regional Police Service. “Subsequent investigation revealed that there was an altercation between two females over a parking spot at the Niagara on the Lake Outlet Mall.”

“An investigation by uniform officers along with detectives with 2 District detective office has resulted in the identification of the female involved.”

Zammit is facing charges of assault and uttering threats. She’s scheduled to appear in court on Feb 3, 2020.
