An investigation into reports of a suspicious vehicle in Binbrook has concluded after detectives say they were able to ascertain that the incident did not happen as initially reported.

According to a press release issued Monday (Nov. 2), police recall that last Wednesday (Oct. 28) they responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the area of Laidman Park that approached a young person.

Detectives from the Mountain Division Criminal Investigation Bureau subsequently launched an investigation to determine the whereabouts of the vehicle and its driver.

The information provided at the time, the release said, described an interaction between a young person and the occupants of a suspicious vehicle.

Police say they conducted an extensive canvass of the surrounding area and were able to acquire surveillance video as well as conduct several interviews.

These efforts led to the identification of a delivery vehicle as being involved. The driver was cooperative and confirmed the details of their actions which were completely related to their business’ procedures.

After reviewing all the information gathered, detectives are concluding that the incident did not occur as initially reported.

“Hamilton Police would like to thank the community for their assistance in this investigation, as it was crucial in identifying the reported vehicle,” the release concluded.
