Art Gallery of Hamilton launches new eCommerce site in support of local arts scene

The Art Gallery of Hamilton (AGH) launched a new eCommerce platform this week in its ongoing effort to support local artists during this time of uncertainty.

The site went live on Thursday (April 22) in tandem with the AGH’s annual art sale, which runs until May 31.

“The new site brings artists and art collectors together within a vibrant digital space in celebration of local creativity and culture; the foundation of every healthy community,” a press release said.

“Featuring over 60 regional artists and more than 400 original works, the 2021 AGH Art Sale is both a vital source of funding for artists and a dynamic forum for uniting the community around art.”

Over the past year, the AGH has navigated numerous shutdowns by adapting much of its programming and exhibits and workshops to the virtual sphere and the positive response from the community has kept this vibrant hub for the arts in Hamilton thriving.

This new ecommerce platform further diversifies and bolsters the AGH’s capabilities to support the struggling local arts scene.

“We are thrilled to present this new digital solution to both artists and art lovers,” said Shelley Falconer, AGH President & CEO in the press release.

“The widespread cancellation of in-person events has deeply impacted artists who rely on art fairs, exhibitions, and gallery showings to earn their living. Now, more than ever, we need to innovate and adapt to provide new opportunities and recovery initiatives for local artists.”

Artworks available on the new site range in price from $250 to $5,000, and include pieces across several mediums including painting, photography, mixed media, works on paper, and sculpture.

Curbside pick-up local delivery and several shipping options are available.
