An Ancaster driver was nabbed Thursday night (Feb.6) was clocked driving 133 km/h on the Red Hill Valley Parkway with two children in the car during the snowstorm.

The man’s licence and vehicle were immediately seized for seven days and he could face additional penalties.

On Thursday shortly before 7:30 p.m., police say they were conducting speed enforcement on the Red Hill Valley Parkway near King Street. At that time, a black Nissan Rogue was observed travelling at a speed faster than the posted speed limit.

Police say they clocked the car at 133 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

The road conditions were not ideal due to the ongoing snowfall.

A traffic stop was conducted and police confirmed the driver was a 40-year-old Ancaster man with a G-class licence. Accompanying the driver in the vehicle were two children.

The driver is scheduled to appear in court on March 5, 2020, by way of court summons, to answer to the charges.

The man is facing charges of stunt driving and speeding 133 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone.

In accordance with the Ontario Highway Traffic Act, stunt driving violations result in an immediate seven-day driver’s licence suspension and vehicle impoundment for the same period.

If found guilty in court, the penalties for stunt driving could include a fine between $2000 – $10,000, up to six months in jail and a two-year licence suspension.

Hamilton Police have taken a zero-tolerance approach to stunt driving and are reminding drivers to exercise extra caution during times of inclement weather.
