An historic Hamilton pub is closing its doors after 23 years

After 23 years of operation, Augusta’s Winking Judge is closing its doors.

Owners, Al, Bill, and Maria took to the pub’s official Facebook page Thursday (Dec. 17) to thank everyone who had supported them over the years.

“Many factors such as the uncertainty of covid, health issues and our ages have made the decision a reality,” read the Facebook post. “We have met many wonderful people over the years, seen our share of weddings, births and sadly lost some friends during our time here.”

The post also indicates that new owners will be taking over operations at 25 Augusta St in February of 2021.

While the pub is likely to be rebranded, the post suggests the “new owners will be carrying on with the spirit of The Judge.”

“So, the story of The Judge, since its conception in 1979 as a truly unique pub continues,” the post continued. “We are proud to have been a part of its history.”
