Police say they’ve made one arrest following a protest that took place at Hamilton City Hall today.
“The demonstration was in response to escalating tensions in the Israel and Palestine conflict,” police said. “Similar protests are scheduled to occur this weekend in several cities across Southern Ontario including Hamilton.”
The protest involved pedestrians and motor vehicles.
A 17 year old male from Quebec, who allegedly operated his vehicle in a dangerous manner during the protest, was arrested and charged.
Police say they’ll continue to investigate.
“Hamilton Police are reminding the public that participation in such events could result in charges being laid pursuant to the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act,” police said, citing current COVID-19 restrictions.
Main Street West was closed for a short period of time due to the protest.
