Youth charged with attempted murder in attack on elderly Oakville resident

On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, just after 8:00 am, the Halton Regional Police Service responded to a reported attack in Oakville at a residence on Melvin Drive. 

On Wednesday, June 3, 2020, just after 8:00 am, the Halton Regional Police Service responded to a reported attack in Oakville at a residence on Melvin Drive. 

The victim, a 79-year-old female, was transported to the hospital with wounds consistent with a stabbing and is currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to police.

Police say the suspect and victim are known to one another. 

The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival and was arrested on a bus in Peel Region by Halton Tactical Rescue Unit officers.

The Halton Regional Police Service has charged and arrested the 15-year-old male in the attack on an elderly Oakville resident that took place on June 3, 2020. 

The youth has been charged with attempted murder and break and enter with intent.

Police say they will not be releasing any further details about the suspect and is being done in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act and to protect the identity of the victim.

The victim remains in stable condition and is recovering in the hospital.
