Woman pronounced dead after major house fire in Acton: Police

One person is dead following a fire this morning (Monday, December 28) in Acton, Halton Hills.
At 9:20 a.m., police, paramedics, and Halton Hills Fire responded to a residential fire on Cobblehill Rd, south of Main St at Mill St East.
“A resident of the home called 911 and reported there was a fire inside the single family dwelling,” police said.
Fire crews entered the home and rescued one resident from inside, while the caller was rescued from a balcony.
Life-saving measures were initiated and both residents were taken to Georgetown District Hospital for treatment, with one in serious condition.
As of 1:30 p.m., police report that the 75 year old Acton woman has passed away in the hospital.
The other resident, a male, is in stable condition.
Damage to the house is estimated at $500,000, police said.
Police and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office are continuing to investigate to determine the cause of the fire.
