With extremely high water levels in Lake Ontario expected to remain constant throughout the summer, damage along Oakville’s shoreline means there are still plenty of park closures.
With lakeside parks being inspected twice daily, the town is planning to re-open parks as soon as it’s safe to do so.

Here’s a list of what’s still off-limits:

  • Coronation Park is partially closed, including the splash pad. The playground, looped parking lot, washrooms and picnic areas A and B are open, but permitted pre-bookings are not available until July 1.
  • Homecoming Trail within Lakeside Park
  • Oakville East Pier
  • Bronte West Pier
  • Bronte Harbour – nightly closure from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Gairloch Gardens (closed halfway down the park from the parking lot)
  • Dingle Park (trail closed from Allan Street to Trafalgar Road)
  • Carrington Promenade (westerly portion)
  • Bronte Harbour launch ramp
  • Busby Park launch ramp
  • Timber Lane – West Street pathway
  • A short section of Water Street adjacent to the Oakville Central Library

Areas that are taped or fenced off may be unsafe. Residents are asked to respect the closures so that no one gets hurt.
The Town of Oakville is also reminding residents to use caution in areas where localized flooding and shoreline erosion are creating dangerous conditions, especially around creeks, ponds and the lake.
