Halton residents may want to take it easy this weekend, especially those who are vulnerable to intense heat.

A heat warning is in effect for all of Halton starting this Sunday, June 17.

Heat warnings are issued when forecast temperatures are expected to be at least 31 degrees Celsius and overnight temperatures are above 20 degrees Celsius for two days, or the humidex (how hot, humid weather feels to the average person) is at least 40 for two days.

Infants, young children, and adults over 65 are among those who are most at risk from extreme heat.

To prevent heat illness, residents are advised to keep hydrated and stay in a cool environment whenever possible.

More information and tips on how to beat the heat can be found on the Region’s website here.

Stay cool, Halton!
