Many people are excited about the chance to ride the new dive coaster at Canada’s Wonderland at its official opening later this week.

Yukon Striker is the fastest, tallest and longest roller coaster of its kind in the world.

The three and a half minute roller coaster is floorless with stadium-style seating. The train starts with a view of the GTA before diving into a 90-degree drop. It reaches up to 130 kilometres per hour while racing through the 1,100-metre track. The ride goes through a complete 36-degree loop and even an underwater tunnel.

The Yukon Striker is inspired by the Klondike Gold Rush.

Canada’s Wonderland General Manager Norm Pirtovshek describes the ride as, “Yukon Striker’s 3,625 feet of steel track soars through four dynamic inversions above guests in the newly themed area Frontier Canada. At its summit, you’ll experience three seconds of complete exhilaration as you stare directly down 245 feet at 90 degrees into an underwater tunnel.”

It is a unique experience as it is the only dive coaster in the world with a 360-degree loop.

According to Canada’s Wonderland website, “Yukon Striker features a Zero-Gravity Roll, where the track twists 360 degrees into a barrel roll as it rises and falls in elevation, giving riders a momentary sense of weightlessness.” It also features a special flip called an Immelmann, which is inspired by an air combat maneuver from World War One.

Canada’s Wonderland is set to open on May 3. Season passes and advance tickets are on sale now.

Will you be riding the Yukon Striker this summer?
