OPP officers are currently on scene investigating a fatal collision.
Around 8:30 p.m., OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says a transport truck collided with a silver-coloured Jeep on eastbound Highway 401, about a kilometre before Guelph Line.
Prior to the collision, witnesses saw the Jeep driving erratically and at high speeds in and out of traffic before coming to a stop on the right shoulder — partially blocking the right lane — where it was struck by the transport truck.
Two male occupants in the Jeep were pronounced dead at the scene.
Highway 401 is currently closed eastbound from Highway 6 south, and the closure will likely last until morning.
