Two males pronounced dead following fatal highway crash in Milton

OPP officers are currently on scene investigating a fatal collision.

Around 8:30 p.m., OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt says a transport truck collided with a silver-coloured Jeep on eastbound Highway 401, about a kilometre before Guelph Line.

Prior to the collision, witnesses saw the Jeep driving erratically and at high speeds in and out of traffic before coming to a stop on the right shoulder — partially blocking the right lane — where it was struck by the transport truck.

Two male occupants in the Jeep were pronounced dead at the scene.

Highway 401 is currently closed eastbound from Highway 6 south, and the closure will likely last until morning.

“I don’t know how long into the overnight this investigation will take, but for now, all eastbound lanes are closed and you will be forced off at Highway 6 south,” Schmidt advised motorists.

The investigation is ongoing and any witnesses who saw the collision or the vehicles involved are asked to contact Mississauga OPP at 905-858-8670.
