Calling anyone who jumps for joy when they hear the following: Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, Battleship, Apples to Apples. That’s right I’m calling all gamers, or board-gamers rather. 

Playing board gamers is an incredible way to spend time while spending time with anyone really. They are fun, make you think, and sometimes, depending on the intensity level, can bring out the completive side of people (guilty). 

And what better place to play board games than at a board game café.

Here are the top five board game cafes you should visit outside of the Halton Region. 


5. Mancala Monk

Hamilton 

Mancala Monk is one of those places where you walk in and you feel like you’re at home. From the delicious food (try the milkshakes), the incredibly warm and welcoming staff, to the thousands of games you can pick from, going to Mancala Monk is a must.

The café has a full menu with lunch, dinner, and snack options (did I already mention that you should try the milkshake?). As well, Mancala Monk also serves local, fair trade coffee, other hot beverages, and cold beverages. 

A few of the games you’ll find at this café include Apples to Apples, Clue, Giant Jenga, Ghostbusters, Pig Goes Pop, and Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective, just to name a few.

Toronto 

For The Win Café was started by gamers who just wanted to share their passion with others. In addition to games of course, For The Win has a wide selection of food and drink options including, get ready for this, a Nutella latte (gasp), slushies, bubble tea, sandwiches, a wide selection of team and more.

A few games that can be found at this café include 5 Second Rule, Aton, Battle Line, 

Battleship, and Dungeons & Dragons, and tons more.

3. Utopia Dream Café

Markham 

This Markham hotspot provides gamers with the opportunity to pick from hundreds of games while enjoying an amazing menu. This café serves a variety of speciality house drinks, teas, juices, milkshakes, yogurt, slushies, and more.

A few games you can find while here include Harry Potter: Hogwarts Battle, King Dominoes, Mall of Horror, The Little Prince, and Eight-Minute Empire.

2. Crossroads Board Game Café

Waterloo 

Located directly across from Wilfred Laurier University Crossroads Board Game Café is an excellent place to go to relax after a long hard day at school. In fact, this board game café is an excellent place for anyone to go to any time.

Here gamers will find a selection of over 200 games, as well as a fully stocked café and bar. 

In addition to gaming, this café has weekly events including a paint night every Monday and Wednesday at 7 p.m.
