According to Moneris, one of Canada’s biggest debt and credit processors, tomorrow is projected to be the busiest shopping day of the year.

While Black Friday is the biggest shopping day of the year in terms of dollars spent, December 20–the last Friday before Christmas–is projected to be the busiest shopping day of the year, as everyone attempts to buy their last-minute Christmas gifts.

While many Canadians consider Boxing Day to be the biggest shopping day of the year, last year, December 21–the last Friday before Christmas–saw more transactions made and money spent than on Boxing Day.

This isn’t exactly a new trend. The final Friday before Christmas has seen the most transactions of the year since 2013.

Some of the stores that experience the most purchases include jewelry stores, bookstores, drug stores, grocery stores, and clothing stores. However, while many people are assuredly purchasing gifts for loved ones, that doesn’t represent all of the transactions.

Many people are also purchasing last=minute party items, as well as things to bring to gatherings of friends and family, and just general household items that might be hard to find during the holidays.

Moneris has projected the busiest hour of the day tomorrow will be 2 p.m. EST.
