This Massive Development in Milton Could be Moving Forward

A massive development project could be moving forward in the town of Milton, however, nothing is set in stone quite yet.

The town received an application, from Korsiak Urban Planning (Mattamy – Brownridge – Limited) for a residential and mixed-use subdivision.

According to a council report, the proposed subdivision, if approved, will consist of 505 units total, consisting of 358 single-detached dwelling units, 81 street townhouse units, and 66 back-to-back townhouse units.

The subdivision would also include a major node block, two institutional blocks (for a proposed public elementary school and Catholic elementary school), a stormwater management block, a wetland block, a meadow marsh block, a watercourse block, a natural heritage system block including a trail block, a neighbourhood park block, open space blocks and various residential reserve bocks, buffer blocks, road widening blocks along Tremaine Road and an internal road system.

The lands in which this subdivision would be built on are located between Britannia Road and Louis St. Laurent Avenue, east of Tremaine Road. The lands, as noted in the report, are currently vacant.

The report also highlighted what is currently surrounding the subject lands.

“The lands west of Tremaine Road have been identified for the Milton Education Village and are currently the subject of a secondary plan process,” reads the report. “To the east, south and north, the property abuts future residential lands for which plans of subdivision and zoning amendment applications have been submitted. Part of the property is within 300 metres of the CN Railway main line, which is located to the east of the subject lands.”

In order for the subdivision to be approved, the applicant has requested a zoning amendment for the subject lands.

The report regarding the application will go to council on July 8, 2019. And it has been recommended that council supports the granting of the draft plan approval, and that the zoning by-law amendment regarding the application be approved.
