A proposed development in the City of Burlington has reached a bump in the road.
National Homes (Brant) Inc. submitted a proposal to the city for a development of 12 townhouse blocks with 83 units in total and three condominium townhouse blocks with 150 units.
The site address in question is 2100 Brant St., in Ward 1.
However, Burlington City Council recently voted to withdraw from the minutes of settlement that was originally reached with the applicant regarding this development.

According to a news release, the city’s previous council had reached an agreement with the applicant for the proposed townhouse development.
“Withdrawing the settlement allows the current council, the community and the developer to continue to work on this project to get a better development,” Marianne Meed Ward, Mayor of Burlington, said in the news release.
“The vote on the settlement proposal should never have happened after the election when five of the seven council members were known not to be returning.”
On Tuesday, Dec. 18 a pre-hearing conference was held by the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal (LPAT). At this conference, the Tribunal was informed of the city’s decision.
As a result, according to the news release, the pre-hearing was not converted into a settlement hearing. The identification of parties and participants in future hearings was taken care of by the Tribunal.
The Tribunal advised that The Havendale Advisory Committee would need to incorporate in order to obtain party status. It was also advised that until it incorporates (or in lieu of incorporation), a representative of the committee could seek party status to further the committee’s interests.
The next pre-hearing conference in this matter will be scheduled for Apr. 3, 2019.
The Tribunal ordered that the parties must have a procedural order and issues list finalized for submission by April 3, 2019.
