Ten people at a Burlington meat processing plant have tested positive for COVID-19.

Officials of the parent company confirm the cases at Fearmans Pork Plant at 821 Appleby Line. They say six people were likely infected among those in a sales department, while four others came from one group that works inside the plant in the non-food area.

The company said the plant is cleaned and sanitized every day and the employees affected are adhering to all safety protocols as set out by local health officials and the Provincial government.

The plant remains open.

Fearmans is regularly in the news as it is a location that animal rights activists protest against on a ongoing basis.
