Ethnic slurs and fists to the face — that’s what a female pedestrian was subjected to during an attempted robbery in Milton.

The incident took place on Oct. 31 at 6:15 a.m. near Thompson Rd. N. and Steeles Ave.

The victim was walking through the parking lot when she was accosted by a man who was earlier seen urinating on the side of a business.

The suspect asked the victim for money and when she declined, he allegedly attacked her, hitting her in the face and head.

During the assault, the suspect fought to steal the bag that the victim was carrying, Halton police allege, and as a result, the victim’s phone was badly damaged.

The suspect failed to get the phone or the bag, fleeing the scene empty-handed.

Patrol officers and the canine unit arrived on scene and searched the area. They found discarded property but the track turned up empty.

The victim suffered minor injuries that didn’t require medical attention.

Police are calling the interaction particularly egregious — during the entire incident, the suspect uttered ethnic slurs at the victim.

The suspect was last seen on foot, heading westbound along Steeles Ave.

A surveillance photo was taken shortly before the robbery.

The suspect is described as white, standing 5-foot-8 with a medium build.

He has a flushed complexion with acne scarring on his face and was last seen wearing dark clothing and glasses.

Anyone with information is asked to call Det.-Const.
