Sharp-eyed citizen helps police nab Oakville crime suspect

A tip from a citizen has led to the arrest of a man for a stolen vehicle and an Oakville break-in.

The sequence of events began today (Oct. 20) when Halton Police received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle in West Oakville.

Police arrived at the scene near Winston Rd. and Scott Ave. and found a man in the car identified by the tipster. Police first found that the car had been stolen from outside the area and further investigation revealed the man is also suspected to be responsible for a break-and-enter in the same neighbourhood the day before.

Police arrested Samuel Facey, 20, of Toronto.

He is charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 (2 counts)
  • Possession of Break in Instruments
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order (5 counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (3 counts)
  • Break and Enter with Intent
  • Trespass by Night

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
