Halton residents are encouraged to celebrate #HaltonGives on Dec. 3–one of 40 community campaigns across the country celebrating GivingTuesday in Canada.

#HaltonGives is part of a growing global movement for generosity, unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities and the world.

“Just as Black Friday kicks off the holiday shopping season, GivingTuesday is the opening day of the giving season,” say organizers. “It’s a time when charities, companies, and individuals join together and rally for their favourite causes.”

In 2018, an estimated 6 million Canadians took part in GivingTuesday–donating more than $15 million, according to organizers. They say another $400 million was raised in the United States.

Halton residents are encouraged to go beyond charitable donations and give in other forms, whether it be general acts of kindness or volunteering at a local not-for-profit.
