It was recently announced that the popular “After Nature” banner series by artist Ingrid Mayrhofer, will be reinstalled this spring to liven up the downtowns of Acton and Georgetown as well as Dominion Gardens Park.

The banners, which were originally installed last year at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, served as a symbol of optimism during a challenging time.

After receiving a positive response from the town’s residents, the banners will be reinstalled in three locations due to requests from the community.

“The ‘After Nature’ banners are a vibrant outdoor art exhibition that I hope will raise the spirits of Halton Hills residents as they continue to feel the impacts of COVID-19,” said Mayor Rick Bonnette.

“These banners bring art to our streets to make them more engaging as well as demonstrating the Town’s commitment to climate change through their representation of at-risk species.”

“After Nature” is a temporary art banner project that consists of a total of seven designs that address themes of climate change and at-risk species.

The banners include iconic Halton Hills buildings and flora and fauna native to the province of Ontario.

Although many of these species are on the endangered list, they are still present in the region’s natural areas.

In the banners, Mayrhofer celebrates the town’s history while also drawing attention to the fragility of the future of our natural environment.
