The Ontario government is simplifying how non-profits, municipalities and other service providers receive government funding.
This week, President of the Treasury Board, Peter Bethlenfalvy, announced the Transfer Payment Consolidation Smart Initiative, which will enhance client experiences, reduce administrative costs, increase value, and improve service outcomes.
“Smarter, more efficient transfer payments will allow the thousands of partners who deliver programs and services on behalf of government to focus their efforts on what they do best — delivering vital services to Ontarians in communities across our province,” Bethlenfalvy said in a news release.
“This is part of our plan to build a smarter government that focuses on outcomes and delivers better results,” he continued.

Due to the current structure, funding has to go through multiple different ministries, systems and processes, which results in wasted time and effort.
“This is an important opportunity to modernize funding agreements so that both non-profits and government spend less time on paperwork, and more time delivering services that support Ontarians,” Cathy Taylor, Executive Director of the Ontario Nonprofit Network, said in the same news release.
