Police Investigate Spike in Vehicle Thefts in Georgetown

Halton Regional Police are investigating multiple vehicle thefts that have occurred in Georgetown since mid-July 2018.

Halton Regional Police are investigating multiple vehicle thefts that have occurred in Georgetown since mid-July 2018.

Police have received 10 stolen vehicle reports since July 11th indicating that cars have been removed from residential driveways during the overnight hours throughout Georgetown.

Based on the investigation so far, no particular make or model of motor vehicle is being targeted by the culprit(s).

Investigators have confirmed that in 9 of the 10 occurrences, the owners had left their vehicles unlocked with the ignition keys inside.

Residential streets affected by these vehicle thefts include:

Prince Charles Drive
Maple Avenue
Faludon Drive
Joycelyn Crescent
Raylawn Crescent
Southwinds Drive
McCullough Crescent
River Drive
Edwin Lane

This increase in car thefts is a concern in Georgetown and police would like to remind the public to ensure their vehicles are secured and keys and other valuables are not left inside.
