Police identify victims of double homicide shooting in Oakville

Police have released the identities of two people pronounced dead after a recent shooting in Oakville.

Police have released the identities of two people pronounced dead after a recent shooting in Oakville.

Around 3:10 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, officers responded to a shooting at a business in the area of Iroquois Shore Road and Eighth Line.

One victim was located deceased at the scene and a second victim was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.

The victims have been identified as 43 year old Afheed (Al) Rehmtulla and 34 year old Kareem Wade.

“Both families request their privacy during this difficult time,” police say.

Two other victims were injured in the shooting and taken to hospital, where they are expected to make a full recovery. Police say they will not be named.

The investigation into the shooting is ongoing.

There is currently no suspect description or known motive, but police believe the shooting was targeted.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have dashcam or surveillance footage of the area between midnight and 3:30 a.m. on the day of the shooting.

“Investigators are also interested in speaking to the driver of a white sedan that was seen in the area at the time of the shooting,” police say. “This vehicle is not believed to be involved.”
