Milton has one of Ontario’s worst COVID-19 hotspot neighbourhoods

One area in Milton is among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, according to recent data from Toronto-based research group ICES.
ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of April 4 to 10.
Of the top 50 listed, one is in Milton: Postal code area L9E (area of Britannia Rd and Bronte St South) at 16.51%.
L9E is the only Halton area in Ontario’s top 50 this week.
Out of all 34 public health units in Ontario, Halton was listed as having the sixth highest COVID-19 positivity rate at 8.22%, just under Ontario overall which was listed fifth at 8.26%.

ICES says percent positivity reflects both the number of COVID-19 cases diagnosed and the number of people who were tested, and the numbers may fluctuate based on these factors.
Halton, alongside Peel and other regions, continues to see a steady rise in incidence of COVID-19 cases among most groups of school-aged children (elementary to secondary) and steady increases among young adults aged 18-22 years (a group including undergraduate university/college students as well as many individuals in the public-facing workforce).
