Many homeowners taking on renovation projects during pandemic

Have you taken on many home-improvement projects this year during the pandemic?
Whether it’s been to make their homes more functional during the pandemic, or simply to cope with all the uncertainty associated with it, many Canadians have been attempting to make their houses homier.
According to a recent report from HomeStars, between March 15 and October 15, 17 per cent more Canadians took on some sort of home-improvement project compared to last year.
Based on the findings, 80 per cent of respondents said they were still planning on following through with a renovation project despite the pandemic.
Additionally, 50 per cent of respondents said they were focusing on outdoor projects, such as fences, decks and pools, while 25 per cent said they were focusing on making their homes more functional, considering they foresaw spending more time there in the near future.
Further, 16 per cent of respondents said they were taking on a bathroom renovation, while 10 per cent said they were tackling their basement.

“These findings confirm what we are hearing from our home service professionals,” Shir Magen, CEO of HomeStars, said in a news release.
“The industry continues to prosper and despite the initial threat of possible supply chain issues with building materials, we are seeing unprecedented growth and interest in home renovations during COVID-19,” she continued.
