The changes kicked in on Jan. 2 after the Oakville Public Library (OPL) board of directors supported a recommendation to reorganize the operational hours due to “significant and increasing demand for service” in OPL’s northern branches.

More than half of OPL’s customer base used its Glen Abbey and Iroquois Ridge branches, the library’s new RFID technology to record branch traffic and item circulation confirmed.
Combined, those branches reflect 55 per cent of the library’s total amount of customer visits and 52 per cent of the library’s overall circulation, according to OPL.
