K9 unit helps nab two suspected car thieves in Oakville

Halton Police have captured two suspected car thieves with the help of their K9 unit.

Early on Wednesday (Oct. 21) officers were patrolling the Joshua Creek area of Oakville when they noticed two suspicious vehicles driving close together. When officers attempted to catch up to the cars the suspects separated and fled the area.

One vehicle, a Toyota Highlander, was determined to have been freshly stolen from a driveway nearby. The driver of the car was trying to flee on foot but was located nearby with the help of the police dogs. Officers also located the Honda Civic and its driver and he was subsequently arrested.

A 17-year-old male from Toronto was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle

Tristan Tenn (22) of Stouffville was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Break In Instruments
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (Marijuana)

The youth was later released on a Release Order. Tenn was held for a bail hearing.
