A unique restaurant – that was one of a kind in Oakville – has shuttered its doors for good.
Ristorante Julia, known as Julia’s, has been sold.
Chef and owner Julia Hanna, who’s been in the downtown Oakville restaurant game for 35 years, says she’s focusing on her north-end restaurant, Ritorno, and the HealthyFam initiative.
“There are no words that can express my gratitude to the heartfelt support I have received from my guests and the amazing people I have worked with at Julia’s,” reads a note from Hanna posted on Facebook.

She’s the woman behind Cafe Galleria and Paradiso.
Boasting beautiful decor with plenty of natural light, Julia’s was home to a gorgeous bar, dramatic red chandeliers and excellent food and service.
It featured a blend of Italian and Latin cuisine dubbed ‘Lataliano,’ offering paella, Spain’s national dish, which includes chorizo sausage, tiger shrimp, mussels, sweet peas, oven roasted roma potatoes and sofrito rice.
And who can forget their moist, flavourful complimentary cornbread? It will be missed.
The gnocchi (with bolognese), made in-house by a nonna named Caterina, who has worked alongside Julia for 34 years, was also a commendable menu item.
