In late October InHalton.com reported on a new Italian restaurant that is opening in Oakville, and now we’re back with more details.

Mangia Mangia, located at 1395 Abbeywood Dr., Unit #1, will soon be Oakville’s newest authentic Italian restaurant. The restaurant owners are hoping to open by the end of this month.

Traditional Italian roots will be very evident throughout the restaurant starting with the name.

“Coming up with a name for the restaurant was an exciting part of the process. We had so many ideas but we really wanted to go with something that would be easily recognizable, that was Italian and that everyone could pronounced,” Emilia Camastro, one of the owners and cooks, said via email.

“In the end Mangia Mangia won because it is something we always say at the dinner table. Mangia is the Italian word for ‘eat’ but in our culture it means so much more than that. It means gathering, community, passion, love it means everything and so we thought it would perfectly represent what we want the restaurant to be for the Oakville community.”

According to Camastro the restaurant will offer fresh and traditional Italian dishes.

“People will recognize the names of all out dishes but we are hoping that they will be surprised by the traditional and fresh taste,” Camastro said.

“There are many great Italian options in Halton but we want to set ourselves apart by offering food that is traditional, food that you will find in the many restaurants and trattoria’s of Italy. We will be featuring dishes that are traditional to many different parts of Italy like the traditional Bolognese or your classic Roman Style pizza.”

Mangia Mangia will have have eat-in options and will be available also on food delivery platforms such as UberEats and Skip the Dishes.

A catering menu will also be available.

Hours of operation of this new Oakville restaurant will be Mondays to Thursdays and Sundays 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Fridays and Saturdays 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.
