A new brewery recently opened in the Town of Halton Hills.

Furnace Room Brewery originally started back in 2007 in the basement of a home, as its name suggests, next to a furnace when long-time friends Jeff Sandifer and Mike Glockner decided to brew a simple extract beer kit.

From here, their story just kept on escalating.

After transforming their furnace rooms into nano-breweries, the two started producing ten-gallon all-grain batches of beer. The word about their beer quickly started spreading and people began asking where they could get more.

However, the encouragement for Sandifer and Glockner to open their own brewery didn’t come until 2014 when two of their beers were entered into a beer competition. Their beers won first and second place.

After finances were secured, plans for the Georgetown brewery commenced.

The brewery is located at 1 Elgin St., in Georgetown and opened on Friday, Dec. 14, 2018.

Construction for this brewery officially started in September of 2017.

Furnace Room Brewery will be open Monday to Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Furnace Room Brewery has four signature beers which include Canadian Red, Pale Ale, India Dark Ale, and Cream Lager. There will also be different seasonal beers available.

All beers are made with top-quality ingredients.
