It’s Canada’s birthday but for drivers in Oakville, Burlington and Milton this means road closures. Here’s what you’ll need to know when you’re navigating/celebrating everything red and white.

It’s Canada’s birthday but for drivers in Oakville, Burlington and Milton this means road closures. Here’s what you’ll need to know when you’re navigating/celebrating everything red and white.


Burlington:

Lakeshore Rd. from Maple Ave. to Elizabeth St. will be closed July 1 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m for fireworks at the Canada Day Celebration at Spencer Smith Park.

Traffic will be redirected and the closure will be supervised by the Halton police.

Oakville:

The following road closures and parking restrictions will be in effect for the Canada Day celebration on Sunday, July 1:

From 3 p.m. until 11:59 p.m.

  • Bronte Road between Lakeshore Road West and Ontario Street
  • Jones Street between Marine Drive and Ontario Street; local access only
  • Ontario Street between Bronte Road and Nelson Street; local access only

From 8 p.m. until 11:59 p.m.

  • Third Line between Waters Edge Drive and Lake Ontario; local access only
  • All streets south of Lakeshore Road West from Bronte Road to Third Line:

Including: Bronte Road, Jones Street, Nelson Street, East Street, Marine Drive

  • Bronte Road between Rebecca Street and Lakeshore Road West
  • No access to Bronte Street south from Rebecca Street
  • East Street between Belyea Street and Sovereign Street; local access only
  • Sovereign Street between Bronte Road and Jones Street; local access only
  • Belyea Street between Bronte Road and Jones Street; local access only
  • Hixon Street between Bronte Road and Jones Street; local access only

Temporary ‘no parking’ signs have been installed in the Bronte area.

Parking restrictions indicated by this signage will be enforced on Sunday, July 1 only.

Private parking lots

There are many private parking lots in Bronte Village not operated by the Town of Oakville. These lots have their own parking regulations and restrictions that may be enforced by private parking operators on July 1.

Be sure to read all posted parking signs and follow all parking restrictions.

Visitors are encouraged to take the Canada Day shuttle to avoid parking challenges.
