OAKVILLE, Ont. — A police chief in the Greater Toronto Area is apologizing for travelling to Florida during the pandemic.
Halton Regional Police Chief Steve Tanner says he left the country last month to “address personal business matters” and will be returning to Canada this weekend.
Tanner says he deeply regrets his decision to travel.
He also says the chair of the Halton police board was aware of the trip and supported it.
The mayor of Oakville, Ont. — which is part of Halton Region — says he also knew about the trip and had no objection to it.
