Halton Hills providing free ActiVan services amid pandemic

The Town of Halton Hills has announced it will be waving certain ActiVan service fees and increasing safety measures to protect customers and staff.
The Town of Halton Hills has announced it will be waving certain ActiVan service fees and increasing safety measures to protect customers and staff.
Eligible clients will be able to book a trip and use the service free of charge. However, this does not include Taxi Scrip or Youth Taxi Scrip.
Additionally, ActiVan services will be limited to essential travel only.
In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Town has increased the cleaning and sterilization schedule of all ActiVan vehicles to a minimum of three times per day.

Further, vehicles will only be allowing two passengers per trip at a time to allow for physical distancing.
Moreover, the Town is reminding residents of the Ministry of Health’s recommendation that individuals over the age of 70 self-isolate and only leave their house for essential reasons.
“The Town continues to provide essential services to the community, while making every effort to keep residents and staff safe,” Mayor Rick Bonnette said in a news release.
“Offering free ActiVan service is another way of working together to flatten the curve and to protect our most vulnerable,” he continued.
