Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette says it’s time to open up personal care service in the province.

With vaccinations soaring and COVID-19 numbers falling to just 345 cases in the province today, the mayor of Halton Hills is calling on Premier Doug Ford to immediately move into Stage 2 of the province’s Roadmap to Reopen.

That would allow local residents to get their hair cut, have nail pedicures done along with other personal care services.

Ford has hinted at moving into Stage 2 sooner than planned, but so far has held firm with the July 2 start date.

“I support getting personal care service to be allowed to open early,” the Halton Hills mayor tweeted out on Friday afternoon. “We now have over 70 per cent vaccinated and 25 per cent with two does.

“It’s time to let them make a living. @fordnation allow them to open restrictions.”

Vaccination numbers are surging in the province and those numbers will continue to climb with a total of 50 million more doses are expected to arrive before Canada Day.

Nearly 75 per cent of eligible Canadians have received at least one dose and over 18 per cent are fully vaccinated.
