Milton is loosening up some of its health-related activities based on new Provincial health protocols.

As Halton Region is in the Protect or “Yellow” level of the new COVID response framework, restrictions on certain activates are not as severe as those in place in such areas as Peel Region or Toronto.

As such:

• Game play and scrimmages may resume immediately
• Fitness classes will resume on November 16 at select locations. New COVID measures will be in place as part of the Protect level. Information will be available on the specific measures prior to the service reopening.
• The walking track at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre remains open for pre-registered visits. The track at the Milton Sports Centre remains closed at this time, but the Town continues to monitor as the colder weather approaches.
In addition to the measures associated with the Protect level, Halton Region’s Medical Officer of Health continues to recommend these enhanced measures:
• Limit close contact to people within your household. This means minimizing interactions with people who don’t live in your house, including dining at restaurants and other social gatherings.
• Limit non-essential activities. This means trying to stick to essential activities as much as possible such as going to school or work (if you work outside of your home) and using online delivery services for errands when possible.
The community is reminded to:
• Self-screen before entering a Town facility
• Stay home if sick
• Wash hands regularly
• Wear masks in all indoor public settings

The new COVID framework uses epidemiology, health system capacity and public health system capacity as thresholds to determine which level a public health unit region falls into.

The Protect level is intended to apply strengthened public health measures in the high risk settings. Each sector or activity has strict protocols to follow to reduce the spread and transmission of COVID-19.

As a reminder to the community, as new provincial measures are introduced, the Town requires time to review, assess and implement services changes when it is safe to do so.
