A driver was recently stopped in the town of Oakville, by police, after a dog was seen in the back of their truck.

“Do you think this is a cargo securement issue,” police wrote on Twitter?

Police continued to explain, “The dog is not a passenger so [it] would not require seatbelt but [it] would be considered cargo when transported on highway and must be prevented from dislodging onto roadway and causing dangerous condition.”

The dog, noted police, could have also been injured if the truck was rear ended.

The driver agreed with police.

This incident occurred on July 24, 2019.
