If you recently purchased a popular doll from Dollarama for your child (or received one for Christmas), you might want to check if it’s impacted by a major recall.

Health Canada recently announced that Dollarama has initiated a recall for the Montoy-branded Little Princess Doll. The product comes in six different variations with the same identification code. The item number 08-3066065 and UPC 667888315611 can be found on the lower back part of the packaging.

The six variations of the doll are:

  • Brown hair, yellow dress
  • Blonde hair, blue and pink dress
  • Red hair, blue dress with yellow outline
  • Red hair, pink dress
  • Black hair, purple and pink dress
  • Blonde hair, blue and orange dress

Health Canada says the plastic doll contains levels of phthalates that exceed the allowable limit and may pose a chemical hazard.

Studies suggest that certain phthalates, including DEHP, may cause reproductive and developmental abnormalities in young children when soft vinyl products containing phthalates are sucked or chewed for extended periods.

Approximately 111,378 units of the affected products were sold in Canada.

As of Dec. 21 2018, Dollarama has not received any reports of incident or injuries related to the use of the doll.

The recalled products were sold from September 12, 2017 to December 18, 2018.

If your child has this doll, you should either dispose of it or return it to the store to obtain a refund (no receipt required).
