A 21-year-old cyclist is dead following an overnight crash in Halton Hills on Friday.

The victim is male, confirmed Halton Regional Police Sgt. Barry Malciw.

Emergency crews were sent to Main St. S. at Church St. E. in Acton at 2:10 a.m.

That’s when a grey Nissan SUV – driven by a 43-year-old Rockwood woman – was heading northbound on Main.

Her vehicle collided with a gas-powered bike heading west on Church.

Investigators say it’s too early to say if the woman will be charged.

“It’s still in the investigational stage,” said Det.-Const. Cyrus Irani.

Paramedics treated the victim before transporting him to Georgetown District Hospital where he died of his injuries.

His family has been notified.

The collision reconstruction unit was called in and now has the file.

Main St. was closed for four hours and has since reopened.

Police say they aren’t releasing the names of the people involved at this time.

There’s no word yet on charges.

Witnesses are asked to phone 905-825-4747 ext. 5065.
