A suspect is being sought after allegedly shoplfting then driving a car at police and pedestrians in a busy Milton shopping plaza.

The incident took place on March 13 at 2:24 p.m.

That’s when a male was shopping at 1280 Steeles Ave. E., near James Snow Pkwy. N.

The suspect selected $800 worth of merchandise – making no attempt to pay – as he left the store, investigators allege.

Halton police were called — before they arrived, the suspect was approached outside by store security who told him he was under arrest for theft under $5,000.

The suspect resisted arrest, and when police got there he ran to a vehicle in the parking lot.

The male allegedly drove at officers and pedestrians in the parking lot “in a dangerous manner,” say police, before fleeing in a stolen 2017 Chevrolet Malibu.

The suspect is described as standing 5-foot-10, weighing about 145 pounds, with a fair complexion. He’s in his late 20’s with a thin build.

He was wearing a black Converse jacket with a blue hoodie underneath his jacket, blue jeans, dark shoes, and a black New York Yankees hat.

The suspect is wanted for the following offences: theft under $5,000; resist arrest; escape lawful custody; possession of stolen property; dangerous driving.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Const. Joshua Pateman at 905-825-4747 ext. 2405.
