Oakville is home to a lot of trendy restaurants, and now another one is being added to the mix.

Community Restaurant, a new plant-based establishment, is coming to Kerr Village.

According to the Community Restaurant Facebook page, the establishment will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

A few menu options will include a granola bowl (with fresh fruit and cashew yogurt), a chia parfait, the Community bowl (kale, cabbage, carrot, cranberries, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and maple vinaigrette), and a few flatbread options.

Besides providing Oakville foodies with another place to eat and chat, the restaurant also plans to give back to the Oakville community.

“As a member of Kerr Village, we plan on giving back to our neighbourhood by developing partnerships and contributing to local food banks,” the restaurant website notes.

“We believe in the power of community and working together.”

The website also explains that Community will bring in experts who will give talks and conduct workshops on subjects that are crucial to the Kerr Village community. All proceeds of these talks and workshops will be donated to the local food bank.

Something else that makes Community different from other plant-based restaurants, and restaurants in general, is its symbol – the elephant. Elephants are an incredibly beautiful animal, and also are a symbol of luck, fortune, protection, and are known to be a blessing upon all (they also have plant-based diets).

Community’s elephant (as pictured below) was painted by Puneet Kohli – an artist who resides in Toronto.

Another symbol of Community is the water lily (or lotus), both, according to the Community website, are considered to be emblems of rebirth and creation.

Community’s water lily (see below) was painted by Anya Mielniczek.

Community restaurant will be located at 343 Kerr St.

An exact opening date has not been determined yet, however, we will provide details as they become available.

Will you be coming out to Community when it opens?

Community will be open Tuesday through Thursday, and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. The restaurant will be closed on Mondays, and everyday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Brunch served on Saturdays and Sundays.
