A new development, a 30-unit residential development, has been proposed for the town of Oakville.
A new development, a 30-unit residential development, has been proposed for the town of Oakville.
The town of Oakville received a development proposal from 320 Bronte Road Inc.
The development, if approved, would be located at 320, 324, 338, 346 and 350 Bronte Rd.
“The subject property is an irregular-shaped parcel with a total site area of 1.9 ha (4.71 acres),” reads the Urban Design Brief. “The subject property is an assembly of four parcels, three of which are existing residential properties and the fourth contains a Place of Worship and a daycare facility.”

Portions of the property, according to the town of Oakville’s website, are located within the Bronte Creek Valleylands systems. It has been proposed that these lands be dedicated to the town to be incorporated into Oakville’s natural heritage system.
However, when it comes to the development, if approved, it would consist of 28 new multiple-attached residential dwellings, as well as one new single-detached dwelling. In addition, 320 Bronte Road Inc. has also proposed to convert the existing daycare facility building to a single-detached dwelling.
The subject land for the proposed development is ideal for several different reasons, according to the Urban Design Brief.
“The subject property is located along Bronte Road, this portion of the road is designated as a ‘Minor Arterial’ and transitions into a ‘Major Arterial’ closer to the Queen Elizabeth Highway,” reads the design brief. “As such the subject property is well serviced by existing public transit bus routes that also connect to the Bronte GO Station providing access to an Inter-Regional Rail network. Multiple bus routes operate near the subject property, that provide connections to various locations within the town.”
“The subject property is located within the Bronte neighbourhood which has large amounts of parks, trail, and open spaces related to the Bronte Creek system, making it ideal for residential intensification,” continues the brief. “The subject property is in close proximity to a variety of parks located within a short walking distance including the Petro Canada Park located along the North boundary of the proposed development.”
However, along with the development proposal, the applicant has also submitted several official plan and zoning amendments.
No decision has been made yet regarding this application, but the town is providing residents with the opportunity to share their thoughts.
The planning and development council will be hosting a meeting on Sept. 9, 2019, regarding the proposed development.
At this meeting, which will take place at 7 p.m. at Oakville town hall, residents will be able to provide input and share their thoughts.
