The menu is curated and the offerings are fabulous. This cute little downtown Oakville spot opened its doors in October 2016 and is an under-the-radar dining experience when it comes to great Sicilian fare. If you’ve never been, start with the fried artichokes (incredible!) and order the steak (equally fabulous but keep in mind it’s not offered daily since the meat selection is changed up). We also dig the fabulously fabulous burrata-tomato salad! The resto is casual yet authentic, kid-friendly and – more importantly – offers a solid wine list, plus cocktails and beer. Service is very friendly. You must go.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Ontario – and even Canada, Oliver’s offers a phenomenal fine dining experience and is going strong after four decades. The menu features the best of the best: USDA Prime steaks, fresh seafood, and an extensive wine list. This is some next-level fine dining, minus the white tablecloths … even the ice cream is made in-house! You’ll find amazing service without the pretentious aura. The menu features high-quality ingredients, while the staff’s attention to detail and presentation is simply on point. The resto seats 120, complete with a private area that can be separated into two rooms for parties. With dim lighting, the beautifully designed restaurant is accented with gorgeous chandeliers, art, a mix of wood and rich tones, plus the wine cellar (if you didn’t know, Oliver’s wine list earned the prestigious New York’s Wine Spectator Award of Excellence for five years running). The experience is downright unforgettable.
This hip Italian bar-slash-gastropub is one of the newest along Brant St., taking over the former Eatalia spot. I found this place while strolling downtown … the stunning aesthetic caught my eye so I went in to find out more, quickly realizing it’s Burlington’s best-kept burger secret. Just order The Burger and wait for it to arrive. Take in the glorious horseshoe-shaped bar and industrial light fixtures and wooden chairs with colourful legs. Try not to drool over the food or decor. Decked out between a bun with black-and-white sesame seeds you’ll find a thick grilled patty made in-house, like everything on the curated menu. It’s wrapped in prosciutto and drowned in melted Gorgonzola and served with frites and house-made ketchup, which tastes so healthy it feels as if I’m eating clean for just a split second. A few bites in, I had to put The Burger down and just nod at it to convey appreciation and respect. The friendly owner, Jerod, and staff work hard to provide a stellar experience. Chase the Spaghetti Carbonara – featuring pasta made in-house, plus double-smoked bacon, garlic, arugula, and parmesan – with suds … they’ve got craft beer on beer on beer on beer — nearly 100 varieties. Cheers!
You know it’s good when a national newspaper comes knockin’ for some smokin’ BBQ at a mom and pop shop. This family-run resto has been serving up southern BBQ for more than 20 years. In addition to winning accolades by the dozen, they’ve got a Woodbridge location bearing the same name. A few sauces are made in-house, such as the Alabama Slamma, and their smoked wings come doused in their Signature BBQ sauce. Overall, the Hot Creamy Parm is their most popular sauce. It looks dangerously fattening but ain’t nobody got time to count calories when you’re at the best wing joint in Milton!
This Lakeshore Rd. restobar has an enviable view across from Spencer Smith Park, paired with a modern, upscale atmosphere. Their menu – created by Chef Zee – offers everything from calamari to chorizo sausage and shrimp puff pastry to Moroccan spiced duck breast. Table 34’s charcuterie board, or Mezza Plate, is superb. It features westphalian ham, Csabi sausage, provolone, gherkins, smoked almonds, grapes, cherry tomatoes, baba ghanouj, and bread. In other words, a perfect share platter!
