This Bronte Village restobar, south of Lakeshore Rd., absolutely blew me away with their pizza. The bread is freshly baked in-house and that salami … oh my. It just might be the best sliced meat I’ve ever tasted. This margherita pizza with spicy salami brought out my inner ninja turtle. Then there’s the Beef House Sliders, with bourbon bacon jam and vintage cheddar … Why does everything here taste so great? Catch Hospitality Group (which owns a slew of the best restos in Oakville, including this one) knocked this one out of the proverbial ballpark. This casual resto-bar has a farm-fresh focus and sources locally when possible. Good luck scoring a table on a Friday night … it’s worth the wait. The beer selection rocks, and so does the chill vibe. (My only gripe with the place is they’ve removed the phenomenal beet hummus from the menu. It’s been replaced with a pumpkin version but it’s not the same. Please bring it back!)

This cute little pizzeria on Derry Rd. W. (next to the Hawthorne Cafe ) doesn’t look like much at first glance. The decor is simple, with wine on display. But the pizza is everything! A huge slice took several minutes to inhale and didn’t stop me from going back for more. The sauce tastes homemade because it is — everything is created in-house. With a great crust and flavourful cheese and meat in each bite, drizzling chilli oil (also prepared at Portabello’s) took it to an unbelievable level! The server was really friendly and helpful — she even reminded me to grab a cell phone charger on the way out. If that isn’t fabulous customer service, I’m not sure what is.
The dress code is casual, however, the food is anything but. The amazing Gnocchi is braised for 12 hours. While you’re there, try the Paradiso Burger, which tastes Incredible (hold up, grammar nerds — that’s an intentional capital ‘I’). Seasoned meat – a great combination of Angus beef and chorizo sausage – is unbelievably satisfying. The house-made patty is flavoured and tastes incredible as-is. One bite in, and I’m in burger paradise. This thick patty is topped with smoked cheddar, house-made ketchup and sweet pickles, smoked honey dijon mustard, then served with herb roasted mini red potatoes. Impressing Oakville diners for 20 years (there’s also a Burlington location on Pine St.) you’ve gotta make a reservation and get your burger on!
They’re known for their oysters and steak but we’re about to put you onto the Shrimp & Lobster Mac and Cheese. Stone House Restaurant opened in Jan. 2010 and features Mediterranean cuisine, including gourmet thin-crust pizzas, risotto, and pasta dishes. But the mac and cheese …. It’s served with fresh tiger shrimp and potato gnocchi in a garlic cream sauce baked with mozzarella, parmesan, and goat cheese … plus a two-ounce lobster tail. It’s accompanied by garlic bread, but you really don’t even want it because the entire dish feels so gluttonous and fancy and carb-loaded, however, you’ll eat it because it’s superb. If you haven’t tried it, head to Stone House for the best date night experience in Burlington!
The Mye restaurant brand is the best in Oakville and the original Mye is located in the heart of beautiful downtown Oakville in the Lakeshore and Trafalgar area. It ‘s located in what looks like an old house and they have modernized it by partitioning the dining room off with glass. We had the exact same seven course-tasting menu as we had in Mye 2 with just one difference at the original Mye. There was a crab claw in my sunomono salad, which Mye 2 didn’t have. The location of this Mye restaurant with the combination of the fresh crab claw makes this location just an inch better than Mye 2!
