5 Farms to Visit in Milton and Halton Hills

I remember discovering the goodness that is Chudleigh’s — but had no idea it was from Halton!
It was the first summer back from university and I was waiting tables at Swiss Chalet in northwest Mississauga (still have that SmartServe certification … and an aversion to chalet sauce. Honey garlic all the way!)
So anyway, Apple Blossoms were on the menu and man, were they ever in demand!
I’d scoop out that vanilla ice cream and serve it up and each time someone waxed one off, I’d wonder why they were so popular. And then I tried one … that was a wrap.
I remember finding the box (completely kickin’ it old school … this was way before we became slaves to devices) and writing down the name and telling my family and friends about these delightful pastries being served at the restaurant.
That’s when someone (don’t recall whom) pointed out I could just visit the farm itself.

1. Andrews Scenic Acres Farm & Winery
You won’t believe the number and variety of pumpkins available at Andrews Scenic Acres. You can pick-your-own pumpkins in a variety of sizes, shapes and colours, including large jack-o’-lanterns, pie pumpkins, miniature, warty white, green and grey pumpkins. Be amazed while you gaze at acres and acres of pumpkins and search for your perfect pick! Don’t miss Andrews’ one-of-a-kind pumpkin wine!

2. Chudleigh’s Family Farm & Apple Orchard
Visit Chudleigh’s as part of your fall fun. The whole family will enjoy making their way through a huge hay maze, riding the tractor wagon through the fields, romping around in the tower play area, delighting in easy apple picking, wandering along the nature trail and visiting the farm animals. There’s something for everyone!

3. Marshall’s Real Farm Market
Marshall’s farm has planted the corn maze to display Canada 150 in celebration of all things red and white. A relaxed atmosphere with you-pick pumpkins, fresh baked treats, and a rustic farm store with local goodies is a great place to enjoy the fresh fall air with family and friends.
Open: The farm is closed to the public this fall. The family is focusing on its grain and oilseed operation, according to the website.

Springridge Farm is open daily, celebrating all things pumpkin. Each weekend, our Harvest Festival activities include wagon rides, a Boo Barn, puppet show, corn trail and more! The Hughes family has been delighting Milton residents and visitors for decades; it’s a fun option to entertain the kids. The Harvest Festival is taking place each weekend this month (including Thanksgiving Monday) from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Take a wagon ride alongside the Niagara Escapement or visit barn animals. Be sure to taste the preserves before you leave!

Nestled in a picturesque pocket on the Niagara Escarpment, you’re invited to hunt for pumpkins in the pick-your-own field. Savour baking aromas in the market with fresh-from-the-oven pies, tarts, cookies and gourmet food items at the all-Ontario market. Kids can play in the straw bale maze and covered sandbox. Navigate the gigantic corn maze and enjoy the fall escarpment colours on a scenic wagon ride.

6. Willow Grove Heritage Honey Bee Farm
Delectable, fresh honey that is 100 per cent pure, raw, unpasteurized and unfiltered, is what Willow Grove Heritage Honey Bee Farm is all about. There is no other place like it in Halton. The farm is a chemical-free apiary and the honey is extracted right from the hive to the jar without heat. It even contains pollen that can be fed right back to the bees! Wheelbarrow Orchards is an old-fashioned apple orchard that is a perfect stop on this year’s trail. (It’s also known as Harvest Goodies, so don’t be confused — you’re in the right place!) Not only can you pick your own apples, you‘ll also be able to taste what fresh really means with their harvest goodies from jams and apple butter to jellies and chutneys made by Heather Fraser and her team. Shop in the market for pumpkins, squash, gourds, honey, Ontario cheese and fresh cider. You won’t go home empty-handed!
